The Trials series may lose its home. On October 14, Ubisoft confirmed a proposal to close RedLynx, its studio in Helsinki, Finland. The news was first reported by Video Games Chronicle and later confirmed by the company.

What Ubisoft said

In a statement, the publisher said: "Today, we informed our teams of a proposal to close RedLynx in Finland, subject to the local change negotiation process, which would affect up to 52 positions."

Finnish law requires a negotiation period with employees before layoffs or closures, so the decision is not final yet. In practice, however, proposals like this rarely change course.

Cuts in Singapore too

RedLynx is not the only studio affected. Ubisoft Singapore is cutting 70 jobs. The team leads development of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, the remake of the 2013 pirate adventure. Together, the two studios account for up to 122 positions.

The story of RedLynx

  • Founded in Helsinki in 2000.
  • Became known for Trials HD, a hit on Xbox Live Arcade.
  • Acquired by Ubisoft in 2011.
  • Its last main game was Trials Rising, released in 2019.

The studio had already been shrinking. In October 2025, Ubisoft proposed up to 60 layoffs at RedLynx, and since Trials Rising the team had not released a new main entry in the series.

A company in transition

The move is part of a larger restructuring at Ubisoft, which has been closing studios, cutting costs and reorganizing its biggest brands over the last two years. For fans of physics-based motorcycle games, the question now is whether Trials has a future at all without the team that created it.
