The wait is almost over. On October 15, Rockstar Games published the launch trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI on its Newswire, a strong sign that the November 19 date set last year is final. The game is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. There is still no date for a PC version.

A launch shaped by two delays

GTA VI was first promised for fall 2025. Rockstar then moved it to May 26, 2026, and in November 2025 pushed it again to Thursday, November 19, 2026. Since then, the studio has stuck to that date, and the new trailer is part of the final marketing push before launch.

The game returns to Leonida, Rockstar's version of Florida, with the Vice City area at the center of the story and a criminal duo leading the campaign.

What players need to know

  • Release: November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
  • Digital preload: starts on November 12.
  • Pre-orders: Standard Edition at US$ 79.99 and Ultimate Edition at US$ 99.99.
  • PC: not announced.

The industry clears the road

The game's size is already reshaping the release calendar. Microsoft moved Fable to February 2027 and openly cited GTA VI as part of the reason. Cloud Imperium Games, for its part, now targets the second quarter of 2027 for Squadron 42. Few publishers want to share a launch window with the biggest release of the generation.

The financial side is also in focus. Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar's parent company, reports its fiscal second-quarter results on November 9, ten days before launch. Investors will be looking for any update on pre-order demand and on how the company expects the game to perform in its first months.

With less than four weeks to go, the remaining questions are about performance on each console and about the online component. Rockstar has not detailed either one yet, so the next Newswire posts are worth watching.
